Here's the pivot we're making for Flick.

Instead of just a typical short-form video platform... Flick will be decentralized.

We're considering using something like LivePeer to host the videos that will be uploaded on Flick.

Will be looking into how practical of a solution that will be.

My co-founder is creating a company wiki on notion.

I think this will help keep us more organized.

I'll explain the pivot we are making within the next few days.

For now, I need to focus on the next things I have to do to accelerate the creation of Flick.

I need to meet with my co-founder and make sure we have all the details of Flick down and that we have the same vision.

This might take a few days but it will be time well spent.

Once I have that done I need to get drafting the white papers.

Once the white papers are created I will go over them with my co-founder to make sure he also approves.

After that I think the best move is to actively start connecting with tech influencers who have a medium to large size audience.

This will be extremely beneficial once we start fundraising. Considering an ICO to raise funds after the family and friends round.

This week my co-founder and I had some people ask us some questions.

    "What even is Flick's vision?"

"Why are you even creating Flick? TikTok's algorithm is already perfect. I never see any spam content."

This made us realize something. Most of the problems we've identified for Flick aren't real problems at all. Just problems we fabricated to justify the existence of a platform like Flick.

This made us rethink a lot.

Flick is early enough where pivots like the one we're about to make won't effect much of the progress we've made in the past.

If it weren't for those people asking us questions, we never would have realized what we have to do.

Lesson: listen to your potential customers feedback.

I reached out to several family members and friends to discuss Flick with them and see if they would be interested in investing.

It seems a few of them will be investing.

We are shooting for a goal of raising $10,000 in our family and friends round. This should be enough money to get things started.

We discussed the tokenomics of Flick with greater detail.

We plan to take everything we've discussed and finalize it by the end of the week.

We will then put it into a whitepaper that investors and people like you will be able to read.

I have't done any logs for the past week...

So here's everything we've done for Flick.

Wasn't able to get the video recorded today due to having to spend my time on school work.

Will try to get it recorded as soon as possible.

    Still aiming for this week.

My co-founder and I will be filming the video for Flick later today.

If all goes well we will have it edited and posted to the landing page by the end of the week.

You can view the current landing page at joinflicksocial.com.

Decided to launch the landing page now to start collecting emails as soon as possible.

The video has not been added yet so if you visit the page you will have limited context.

Will hopefully finish recording it tomorrow and get it edited and posted to the landing page by the end of the week.

It's just occurred to me that you might not know
    what Flick is.

Flick is a short-form video platform with it's own in-app currency. Picture a platform like TikTok with a currency like Twitch's bits.

    Let me explain.

My co-founder and I identified 3 main problems with most short-form video platforms.

Problem number 1: Users see too much low-quality content and spam.

Problem number 2: Most platforms are over-saturated with content. This makes it hard for new creators to get noticed.

Problem number 3: Creators struggle to get monetized quickly.

How are we going to solve these problems? In-app currency.

Creators will have to use a small amount of in-app currency to post. This will help solve spam/low-quality content and content over-saturation. Creators will be inclined to make their content the best of their ability since they won't want to waste their currency. Spammers won't post as much spam since they won't want to purchase currency to post on our platform when they can post on other platforms such as TikTok or Youtube Shorts.

That's two problems solved, but how are we going to solve the third? Simple. User's can purchase in-app currency to post to their favorite creators. The creators can then cash out this currency for real money.

Like I said before, after the Kickstarter succeeds we will have a few options.

We could hire our own developers to build out the platform or we could hire an app development agency.

Hiring a development agency may be cheaper but having our own in house developers would most likely give us more control over the product.

The direction we take will depend on how much funds we raise from the Kickstarter.

We will be using KickBooster to create affiliate links for the micro-influencers.

We are hoping that most of the influencers will be okay with just accepted the revenue that they make from their affiliate link sales.

Keep in mind we would also be giving them all of the rewards that a Kickstarter backer would gain.

From now on, until the Kickstarter succeeds... most of our time and effort will go toward contacting micro-influencers in an attempt to schedule as many posts as possible to promote the Kickstarter.

I also forgot to mention that we are getting ready to wrap up our family and friends round.

We've raised enough to incorporate and promote the Kickstarter once it launches.

Why are we launching a Kickstarter?

Building Flick will be a fairly complex tasks and unfortunately my co-founder and I don't have the technical skills.

We've come to the conclusion that launching a Kickstarter and then using those funds to hire either individual developers or a development agency would be the best and fastest way to build this platform.

The main point of the landing page will be to collect emails for when we launch our Kickstarter.

Looking to launch the Kickstarter in January.

Would like to launch another month but we would be wasting to much time.

The landing page has been built.

Right now it only has a sign up form but we will add a video soon to showcase what the platform is about and how it will benefit both users and creators.

The page will be launched as soon as the video is complete.

You all have no idea how excited I am for this project.

    Stay tuned!
